Andy Ward has been kite surfing for three years
The first attempt to kite surf from the Channel Islands to the coast of England will take place in September.
Andy Ward is planning to launch from Alderney, surfing through the channel shipping lane to his home town of Poole in Dorset.
The record attempt is in aid of the Special Boat Service Association, which supports members of the SBS and their families.
Mr Ward is hoping to cover the 70 nautical miles trip in eight hours.
The father of three has been kite surfing for three years.
The States of Alderney said he needs force five winds to complete the crossing and only has two four-day windows in September when the winds, tides and daylight should be in his favour.
During the attempt he will be accompanied by a support boat and monitored by a land-based team.
Five other kite surfers recently completed a trip from Dungeness in Kent to Boulogne in France.
